The Governing Body uses the “CIRCLE MODEL” for Governance.

Panels (Admissions, Pay, Headteacher’s Pay & Performance, and Teachers’ Pay & Performance) have FGB Delegated Authority to  make urgent decisions required in the interests of the school and its children.

All business will be conducted through termly Full Governing Body meetings. Each governor will take a lead and link role for a core  aspect of our governor responsibilities, in addition to monitoring aspects of the curriculum. Some significant areas of responsibility will  be “paired”, where two governors work together and can therefore provide support and cover. The FGB will make all appropriate  decisions that cannot be delegated (e.g. to the Lead/Link/Paired Governors or Working Parties).

Each Governing Body meeting will include a shortened version of the Head Teacher’s report, providing an update on progress on the  SIP, key information “at a glance”, etc. Every agenda will cover all of the key areas of the governor’s responsibility – Finance,  Safeguarding, H&S, etc. Lead/Link Governors will also provide monitoring reports in line with the Monitoring Visit Framework. For key  areas of the governor’s responsibility and accountability, there may be discussions and challenges. As a result of these changes, FGB  meetings will each have a strategic “deeper dive Focus” where a key area of governor responsibility is discussed in greater depth as  required.

The Full Governing Body will meet at least 6 times in each Academic Year (and review the School’s Finances at least 6 times each  year).

Working Parties may be set up as Specific “Task and Finish” teams which make recommendations to the FGB. Associate Members may be appointed (without Voting Rights) to the FGB.

Notes Taken by a Governor at a Panel Meeting may be required. Quorum = 50% of Governors rounded up. Minimum of 3 Governors  on any Panel.
